ECBA Super CLE - December 10, 2014 - Mayfair Farms, West Orange NJ - Affordable Care Act Program
While not an official HRMA event, we encourage all with an interest to attend the following program:
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA, ACA or "Obamacare”) was signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. Together with the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, it represents the most significant regulatory overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid in 1965.
On December 10, 2014, join Keith McMurdy and the rest of a distinguished panel for a discussion of ACA and recent developments, with a focus on the impact on employers.
Topics to be covered during the program include:
- The state of play with respect to various aspects of the ACA, particularly the employer mandate, including a discussion of recent case law
- How recent election results could impact amendments to the ACA
- The interplay between the ERISA settlor and fiduciary functions that the ACA requires
- The interplay between the ACA and other employment laws
- Managing employee populations and the treatment of full time, part time and variable hour employees for coverage offerings
- The impact of the ACA insurance market reforms on the individual and small employer insurance markets in New Jersey
- The unintended consequences of the ACA for employers
