HRMA of Princeton Receives Distinguished Platinum EXCEL Award

    April 27, 2012

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has awarded the distinguished Platinum EXCEL Award designation to the Human Resources Management Association of Princeton, NJ (HRMA) for its scope of work in 2011.

Many of the HRMA’s successful endeavors involved support of the local community in addition to the HR professionals:

    • HRMA has formed a partnership with the Ewing High School on various workforce readiness initiatives such as coaching students on interviewing and job search skills.
    • HRMA has offered support to college students at Rider University and The College of New Jersey interested in careers in human resources by providing scholarships, student chapter financial support, and presentations by subject matter experts.
    • HRMA has provided professionals in transition with networking opportunities and support as they seek employment opportunities by way of the HRMA Careers In Transition (CIT) group. There is no charge for joining the CIT group or for attending CIT meetings.
    • HRMA members have taught HR certification courses based on the SHRM Learning System at Mercer County College to help HR professionals pass the PHR/SPHR/GPHR exams.
    • Not only has HRMA offered instructional assistance for those seeking certification, but also the organization has supported certified professionals by providing monthly programming that is pre-approved for recertification credit by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).
    • HRMA has offered local non-profit organizations the opportunity to present for five minutes at the beginning of monthly dinner meetings.  Attendees have been educated about the non-profit organization’s mission and services and solicited for volunteers and corporate support.

“This recognition demonstrates both the leadership and the successful partnership the chapter has with SHRM to serve the networking and professional development needs of human resource professionals and to the advancement of the human resources profession” noted Pamela J. Green, SPHR, Vice President, U.S. Membership for SHRM.

The EXCEL Award is the recognition component of the SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE).  SHAPE measures include alignment with SHRM’s overall objectives, strategic focus and initiatives as well as promoting the human resources (HR) profession at the local level.
