    DESCRIPTION:

    The problem usually isn't HR when a large company faces a 1970s-style employment lawsuit.  It's the fact that senior management would just prefer to "shoot the messenger" in order to resolve issues.  This presentation discusses how to be more effective with your leadership in dealing with topics like cronyism, the high-performer who is never disciplined, fear of retaliation, poor employee training, and much more. 

    During this session, we will consider real-life examples to assist HR decisiion making, apply best practices to support decision making on management and employee relations issues and stay current with industry regulations and workplace laws.

    OUR SPEAKER:

    Stefanie Riehl is Vice President for the New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA). In that capacity, she leads the Association’s Member Action Center - a one-stop shop providing extensive government contacts, legal and business assistance, and data analytics to thousands of companies. 

    Prior to establishing NJBIA’s Member Action Center, Stefanie served as the Association’s head lobbyist on labor, human resource, campaign finance, and election law matters. She also served as Executive Director of New Jersey’s largest business ideological political action committee, NEW JOBS. Under her leadership, the group raised over $300,000 in 2015.   

    As an expert on employment and labor issues, Stefanie has been interviewed by the Associated Press, Bloomberg, NJ101.5, the Star Ledger, the Bergen Record, and the Philadelphia Inquirer. She has also been a featured guest on My9New Jersey, News12 NJ, and NJTV, and has done numerous public speaking engagements.

    Before joining the NJBIA, Stefanie served as director of Government Affairs for the New Jersey Builders Association.  She also helped to manage the association’s political action committee. Prior to that, she was an associate fiscal analyst with the New Jersey Office of Legislative Services, where she drafted legislation and amendments on health and human services issues. 

    On a personal note, Stefanie was born in Trenton, New Jersey.  She graduated summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey where she received several awards for her commitment to scholastic achievement, leadership, and community service.  After completing her undergraduate education, Stefanie relocated to New York State to attend Syracuse University and receive a Master of Public Administration degree from the Maxwell School. An avid runner, Stefanie currently resides in Mercer County, New Jersey, with her husband and two sons.
