The last few years have seen a flurry of legislative activity affecting New Jersey employers. There are new laws regarding minimum wage changes, paid sick leave, the NJ Opportunity To Compete Act (“Ban the Box”) and a host of other issues. And, it’s little consolation to know that more is likely on the way!

At the May 11th meeting of the HRMA of Princeton, Stefanie Riehl of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, will inform you on how these developments will specifically affect your organization. Attendees will receive general information about current changes and learn to recognize best practices to ensure compliance and reduce legal liability. The speaker will also provide an update of other laws and regulations that are on the horizon, and what to expect in the future, for planning purposes.

Know the changes that will affect your organization, and stay on top of the game.

Plenty of time will be set aside for specific questions and answers.

    Our speaker:

Stefanie Riehl is Assistant Vice President for the New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA). In that capacity, she represents over 21,000 companies and serves as the Association’s head lobbyist on labor, human resource, campaign finance, and election law matters.

As one of the state’s leading pro-business human resource advocates, Stefanie frequently testifies before the New Jersey Senate and State Assembly on high-profile labor issues affecting New Jersey employers. She has been interviewed by the Associated Press, Bloomberg, NJ101.5, the Star Ledger, the Bergen Record, and the Philadelphia Inquirer. She has also been a featured guest on News12 NJ and NJTV, and has done numerous public speaking engagements.

Before joining the NJBIA, Stefanie served as director of Government Affairs for the New Jersey Builders Association.  She was responsible for analyzing state legislation and regulations that impact the building industry, proposing legislation and amendments, and coordinating industry-wide advocacy efforts.  Prior to that, she was an associate fiscal analyst with the NJ Office of Legislative Services, where she drafted legislation and amendments on health and human services issues.

On a personal note, Stefanie was born in Trenton, New Jersey.  She graduated summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey where she received several awards for her commitment to scholastic achievement, leadership, and community service.  After completing her undergraduate education, Stefanie relocated to New York State to attend Syracuse University and receive a Master of Public Administration degree from the Maxwell School.
