    About the Forum Participants

    Todd A Smick

    Senior Lead Consultant, Univers Workplace Solutions

    Todd A. Smick is a 1991 graduate of Union College with a BS Degree in Geology.  Todd started his professional career as a scientist determining the presence of hazardous waste on a Navy Ship Yard.  Todd quickly transitioned into the world of Insurance cutting his teeth at Unum in Atlanta, GA as a Group Benefits Sales Representative.  He has partnered with brokers, consultants and worked directly with large employers.  His top priority has always been to provide creative solutions and unparalleled customer service.  Areas of expertise include Group and Individual Benefits, Integrated Disability Management, FMLA Administration, and Communication, Enrollment, & Benefits Administration solutions.  Todd currently resides with his wife of 11 years and their three children in Medford, NJ.

    Jim Wenke

    VP, Eastern Division, Vision Service Plans

    Jim Wenke is Vice President, Eastern Division, for Vision Service Plans (VSP). Jim is responsible for VSP’s field sales and account management teams in the Northeast and Great Lakes Regions covering fourteen states. Jim has twenty-nine years of experience working with plan sponsors of all sizes, across the broad spectrum of employee benefit and healthcare delivery issues.

    Prior to joining VSP in June 2011, Jim was a Partner at Mercer, where for fifteen years he held a variety health & welfare consulting and leadership roles.  Earlier in his career, Jim spent fourteen years with Aetna in sales and business leadership roles including Senior Vice President, National Account Sales, and Director, Health Services (managed care delivery). 

    Jim is a graduate of Washington and Lee University with a BA in Public Policy.

    Martin Mullee

    Account Executive, Group Benefit Sales, MetLife

    Martin (Marty) Mullee, located in MetLife’s Clark, NJ Group Benefits Sales office, is responsible for managing institutional customers, developing prospect relationships and creating new business opportunities with a primary focus on Group Dental, Life and Disability.  Currently, Marty manages over 40 clients with annual client revenue of over $50M.

    Marty has been with MetLife since 1996 in various roles including Voluntary Benefits, Group Auto & Home and Group Long-Term Care.  He joined the Group Benefits Sales organization in 2006.  Prior to that, Marty was responsible for all large group long-term care insurance sales to MetLife's Institutional customers on the East coast. He served as the lead sales executive in long-term care and was responsible for developing innovative plan designs and solutions for MetLife's customers. Marty is an HIAA designated Long-Term Care Professional.  Prior to that, Marty began his MetLife career in the voluntary benefits sales organization as an Account Executive responsible for implementing group auto & home and group legal programs to MetLife customers.

    Marty has over 15 years experience in the benefits marketplace and has been a speaker at numerous employee benefits conferences.  Marty obtained his B.A. in Communications and Marketing from John Carroll University, University Heights, OH in 1995; and holds his resident Life and Health Producers license in the State of New Jersey along with being licensed and appointed as a Registered Representative.

    Keith Busch

    Account Executive, Group Benefit Sales, MetLife

    Keith Busch, located in MetLife’s Clark, NJ Group Benefit Sales office is responsible for managing institutional customers, developing prospect relationships and creating new business opportunities with a primary focus on Group Dental, Life, Disabilty and voluntary benefits.  Currently, Keith manages hundreds of local market clients with annual revenues of over $12 million.

    Keith has been with MetLife since 2002 and has spent his entire career working in Group Benefit Sales in the NY & NJ area.  While hired as a Sales Trainee directly out of College, Keith quickly progressed through the ranks and has become a recognized leader at MetLife, qualifying for leaders conference in 2009 & 2010.

    Keith has 10 years of experience in the employee benefit marketplace and is continually asked to speak at various events in the industry.  Keith obtained his B.A. in Marketing & Communications from Bryant University in Smithfield RI in 2002; and holds his resident Life & Health Producers license in the State of New Jersey along with being licensed and appointed as a Registered Representative.
