October Careers in Transition Meeting Program

HRMA-NJ, the Princeton local SHRM group, is pleased to host Mr. Sandy Schussel (Brass Ring Coaching) at our October Careers In Transition Meeting.  Mr. Schussel's topic is "Staying Motivated During the Job Search".  The meeting will take place on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 4:30-5:30 PM at the Salt Creek Grille (www.saltcreekgrille.com) in Forrestal Village on US Route 1 in Princeton.  The meeting is open to all HR professionals.  There is no cost to attend, membership in HRMA is not a prerequisite, and registration is not required.  Because the meeting is being held in the same room as HRMA's dinner meeting, anyone not remaining for HRMA's dinner meeting is asked to leave by 5:45 PM in order to adjust the room for the dinner meeting.

Sandy Schussel is a motivational speaker, author, sales and marketing trainer, and business and life coach.  While most of his work has been with professionals and business owners, many of his clients have been managers and supervisors in transition in fields where finding jobs has been difficult.  Sandy believes that many of the same principles apply both to job searches and to finding and developing relationships with clients.  Sandy’s work involves one-on-one coaching with individuals who are serious about investing in their success, as well as speaking, training and group coaching for their teams.

Sandy spent fifteen years as a practicing attorney, serving as “rainmaker” for his own successful law firm.  He discovered he loved—and had a knack for—winning the hearts and minds of clients, but was unhappy with a career doing the legal work that his marketing efforts produced.  In 1992, he began a year-long battle with colon cancer and complications from treatment that left him totally disabled for over a year.  When he realized he was going to recover, he started to dream of a career that would bring him joy and fulfillment.  Eventually, he found that joy and fulfillment in the work he does now.

Striving to recognize and overcome the fears that rendered him too paralyzed to go after his dreams became the inspiration for Sandy’s first published book, THE HIGH DIVING BOARD: How to Overcome Your Fears and Live Your Dreams.  His more recent book is called BECOME A CLIENT MAGNET: 27 Strategies to Boost Your Client-Attraction Factor.

Sandy has served on the faculty of New York University’s Marketing and Management Institute and recently appeared as a guest speaker on Life Coach TV.  He and his wife, Hannah, have resided in the Princeton area for the past twenty years. They have two daughters who are now out in the world on their own.
